[You and the Textbook for Studying Love] ~Another Story~ Beneath the downpour of spring sunlight, Ritz, Welger, and Thor are participating in the tryouts for the kendo club. The club activities are more difficult than the three had imagined, given that their upperclassman Yanagi is working them hard right from the start, and they sooth their parched throats at the water fountain during a break…-.

The strong sunlight poured down on one spring day…-.

First years Ritz, Welger, and Thor were at the drinking fountains, taking a spare moment for a break from their kendo club tryouts.

Ritz: “Hah~ I’m exhausted. The kendo club is way harder than I was expecting, ya know?”

Welger: “There are a lot of different clubs with tryouts for potential new members, but this one seems the worst. Despite what I thought, we’re just doing long runs. I want to hurry up and try swinging a sword!”

Voices hoarse from dry throats, Ritz and Welger talked about the different club activities they’d tried.

Thor: “It’s not that simple. You don’t just immediately get to start waving a sword around. The basics are more crucial than anything. That’s what senpai said at the beginning.”

Welger: “Tch! Must be nice for you Thor. You were getting praised by senpai just a little bit ago.”

Welger pouted as Thor, his face serene, took a drink of water. But then…-.

Ritz: “Take that! Ahaha!”

Ritz started collecting water in his hand and throwing it at Welger.

Welger: “You’ve done it now! Time for my revenge!”

Welger fought back, and a water spray from the fountain danced and sparkled in the light.

Thor: “Hey, senpai’s going to come over here. Don’t blame me if you get caught.”

Thor glanced sideways at the two as they enjoyed themselves and sighed in exasperation.

Ritz: “You’re hot too, aren’t you Thor~? Welger, let’s get Thor…-.”

As Ritz was talking, the sound of footsteps crunching on the packed earth reached them.

??: “…well now. Looks like we’re having some fun during club tryouts. It’s good to see this year’s new students are so full of energy.”

Ritz: “! Y-Yanagi-senpai…”

Ritz turned, his voice dropping so low that it seemed to crawl across the ground as Yanagi approached, bamboo sword in hand.

Welger: “Uh, I’m getting a really bad feeling all of a sudden… see ya Ritz!”

Ritz: “Ah, no fair! Don’t leave me!”

As soon as the two ran off, their faces pale, Yanagi chased after them with a speed that made it seem like he was flying.

Yanagi: “Don’t go running off and trying to escape, you first years!!”

The two ran, trying to escape Yanagi’s terrifying form, and before long others had gathered in the schoolyard…-.

Thor: “…told you so.”

Sieg: “Oh, Yanagi seems to be in high spirits today.”

Caliburn: “I don’t know if I’d call it that, this is…-. What on earth happened Thor?”

Caliburn and Sieg, members of the kendo team, were trying to catch up as they turned to Thor, who just watched as Yanagi chased after the younger students.

Thor: “Yanagi-senpai caught them goofing off…”

Hearing the general gist of events from Thor, the two burst into laughter and turned back to the schoolyard.

Caliburn: “That’s pretty unlucky to have been caught by Yanagi. Oh, it looks like he’s about to catch them.”

Sieg: “Though, those two have some serious muscle to run from Yanagi like that. It’d be good if they decided to join the kendo team.”

Caliburn nodded in agreement at Sieg’s calm assessment.

Thor just let out a small sigh and looked up, as if trying to lose himself in the beautiful blue sky.
