Even as the crystallizing rain falls on the Dream World, the skyscrapers of Daten shine like normal. Makoto and Sky occasionally exchange words as they walk around the city, which seems to be averting its eyes to the strangeness happening around them. The former princes find themselves in a difficult position and have to think about what happens now…-.

Daten, Land of Magical Science…-.

A mysterious rain had been falling in the Dream World, turning all living things to crystal, and it showed no signs of stopping as the ground turned damp.

Sky: “The city’s the same as ever, despite all this.”

Sky spoke from under his umbrella and Makoto, also carrying an umbrella, looked at the buildings around them.

Daten had also been affected by this rain, but the bright lights from within the modern buildings hadn’t dimmed.

Sky: “I guess the people around here don’t change much, even with this weird stuff going on. You think we’re the only ones who find it strange?”

Makoto: “…”

Rather than answering, Makoto looked up at Sky with a gloomy expression.

Makoto: “They turn a blind eye when bad things happen. Acting as if they can’t see it, don’t notice it, or that it doesn’t involve them… isn’t that just how humans are?”

Sky: “But the city itself changes. There’re even flowers on the roadside…”

At Sky’s words, Makoto let out a huff.

Makoto: “Sky, are you interested in flowers? With a face like that?”

Sky: “This has nothing to do with my face or how I look!”

Makoto kept walking, ignoring Sky’s rambling, until he suddenly stopped.

At Makoto’s feet was a flower, forced to endure the falling rain.

Makoto: “…this may have been the case in the past, but now, do you think there’s even anything we can do?”

Sky: “Well, that’s…-.”

Though Daten was currently under a presidential system, even when they were members of the royal family, Sky and Makoto did not have the power to move the country.

Makoto shook his head, interrupting Sky before he could say anything.

Makoto: “We need to hurry and investigate the situation in the other countries. There’s nothing we can do here.”

Sky: “But! But… even if we can’t find something to do now, I still don’t think it’s right to just up and leave.”

Makoto: “…”

Makoto ignored Sky as he clenched his fist in frustration, and instead looked quietly at his feet.

The bright lights from the skyscrapers seemed to cut straight through the gloom…-.

Makoto: “If the President was forced to stand in this rain and turn to crystal, I would be happy enough with that.”

Sky: “Hey, Makoto…!”

After a moment of silence, Makoto let out a short sigh.

Makoto: “But… as soon as I think this has nothing to do with me, her face comes to mind. Even now, I’m sure she’s feeling desperate somewhere out there.”

Sky: “…yeah. If it’s her, I’m sure she is.”

As the sun remained hidden and the freezing rain continued to fall, they both saw in their minds a warm smile completely unrelated to their current positions.

Makoto: “…hah.”

As he sighed, Makoto placed his umbrella on the side of the road.

Sky’s eyes went wide in surprise as that umbrella now protected the roadside flower from the rain.

Makoto: “This is all we can do now. After… let’s figure it out after we get back. Aaaah, I don’t want to buy a new umbrella. Hey mutt, go buy one.”

Sky: “…right!”

The two could not yet see any signs of the rain stopping in the future.

Even still… as the former Princes of Daten, both wore smiles of defiance on their faces.
