Atop a tall building with a sweeping view or Arbitro…
Dulfer and Camilo spot an unusual figure and land beside him.
Camilo: “Lucien, this is unexpected.”
Dulfer: “Yes, this is quite unusual, you coming into town.”
The two called out, and Lucien’s glossy black hair swayed as he turned his head.
Lucien: “Yeah… are you two patrolling?”
Dulfer: “Something like that. I wasn’t too keen on going, but Camilo wouldn’t stop pestering me until I came along.”
Camilo: “You should take your duties more seriously as someone who protects this country.”
Dulfer: “Yeah yeah. If you’re going to lecture me, I’ll listen to it later. Besides, the aftereffects of that particular incident have calmed down recently. It should be fine to relax once in a while, right?”
The event in question was a failed rebellion spurred on by those in the country with black wings…
Thanks to the efforts of the princes, the turbulence caused by the incident was slowly coming to an end.
Camilo: “But you don’t do it just once in a while. You always look like you’re slacking off.”
Dulfer took the scolding in stride and brushed off Camilo’s opinion with a sigh.
Camilo then turned his commanding gaze to Lucien.
Camilo: “Lucien, what do you see when you look at this country?”
Lucien: “…I don’t think anything has changed drastically since the incident.”
At Camilo’s question, Lucien slowly shook his head.
Lucien: “But… it feels like I hear even more voices calling for change now.”
Dulfer: “Voices?”
Lucien: “Yes. I think it’s a sign that the people who were hurt by this discrimination and those that were raising their voices are now tied together in looking ahead. And I think it is now my mission to carry on their wishes and deliver them towards what’s right.”
Camilo: “…your mission. I never thought I’d hear that from you.”
Camilo smiled, deeply moved, and Dulfer nodded in sympathy.
Dulfer: “Before, it was quite rare for you to come and watch the town like this.”
Lucien: “Are you trying to say I’m not acting like myself…?”
Dulfer: “I wouldn’t say you aren’t yourself, but rather that you’ve changed a little. I don’t think that’s a bad thing though. It’s a good way to be.”
Camilo: “You could watch over the areas of the town that we aren’t able to keep thoroughly monitored. We’ll be counting on you.”
Lucien: “Counting on me… alright. I plan on doing whatever I can.”
Dulfer: “You sound like someone else I know who tries way too hard, you know? I said this before, but sometimes it’s important to be lazy too.”
Camilo: “Dulfer, you’re saying stuff like that again…”
Lucien: “Ha… you two really get along.”
Lucien smiled faintly as he watched Dulfer and Camilo go back and forth.
The three watched as the town turned to dusk, carrying on an unhurried conversation for a little while longer.
