The youngest prince in the game is done, and boy was he a task. There wasn’t really anything difficult about the text itself, but trying to convey how young he was in the way he spoke was a little more difficult. I tried to remember how kids talk and use that as a template to adjust how I translated the Japanese, but to be honest I don’t have kids and I’m not around them that often, so uh… I kind of forgot how they talk? But I tried my best! There was also a lot of ‘sounds’, mostly from crying, that gave me trouble for some reason. I think I got it eventually but I think in English we would normally convey things by putting words in asterisks like *sniff* to indicate someone is sniffing, but the Japanese just uses sounds that people naturally know how to interpret. I don’t have that natural interpretation skill, so hopefully what I did doesn’t read too awkward.
Either way, Procyon was not a prince I was looking forward to just because I don’t like the younger ones. No criticism on anyone who likes him, but that’s why I did him now instead of waiting till the end – I figured I would just keep putting him off.
I also just wanted to mention, Hime is total garbage at dealing with children in Moon Route! I mean, I’m not great with kids either, so I can sympathize, but come on girl.
