Ugh…ok, so I really don’t like Cohen. This dislike started long ago though, for no apparent reason. Someone I know who plays the game would always complain about him and the collar on his shirt calling him, ‘that stupid 70’s guy’. I thought it was funny that there was so much hatred for this character, and that only intensified when he got his event version in the Sword Dance event. Again, not for any particular reason, just because. I always tried to be optimistic, figuring this guy couldn’t be as bad as everyone said (especially if they hadn’t read his story). Yet I felt like if I waited to do him as the last of the 1-2* princes…I might never do him because of the dislike from other people, and I was worried they would be right and he’d be deserving of those feelings.Well…everyone was right. Cohen is terrible. I dislike him so much, and now I have a grounding for that feeling! I don’t mean to color your opinion of him before you’ve read the story but…consider this a warning I guess. He is not someone I’d want to associate with in real life, and the game tries to brush it off as ‘oh that’s just how it is in this country’, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that he basically tries to force himself on the main character.
OK, my rant is now over! I didn’t really have any trouble with the translation except one of the lines following a SUN choice which is:
コーエン「子猫ちゃん。。。キミって人は」
I wasn’t really sure what to do with the キミって人は so I had to do some hunting to find the right translation. I went through a couple different choices, going back and forth and then rewriting the line, but I think in the end the translation I chose was the most appropriate. At least I hope so!
